Products I Wouldn't Purchase Again

Us makeup lovers will have a few regrets over time. From wearing a thick line of eyeliner under our eyes without blending *shutters* to wearing a red lipstick whilst eating a burger where there is a 99% chance of no survival for lipstick.Other regrets are simply just buying a product that just didn't turn out that great. I'm going to share some things i've purchased that I wouldn't recommend or buy again.

1. MAC Creme Cup Creamsheen lipstick
Yeahhh i'm a little surprised at this too. I bought this last year cause I thought it was a super pretty colour and when I swatched it on my arm it seemed to be a really easy everyday product. What I don't like about this is how it applies. I find it makes the dry patches on my lips seem more noticeable? Even when exfoliating my lips and getting all the dry skin off I still found this seemed to get drawn to those areas and highlight them. It's weird because it's a creamsheen and should just provide a sheer colour to my lips, which it does, but it also still picks up any dry parts. Did anyone find it did this too? For that reason I just don't wear it as it's not easy to wear, and I wouldn't repurchase.

2. Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer
I mentioned this in a haul post a few weeks ago and said how my first impression was that it wasn't full coverage enough and the colour was slightly too orange. Since then i've tried to give it a go and although I don't mind it..I don't love it. If i'm going to wear a concealer I want it to be ultra full coverage and this is just slightly too sheer.

3. Maybelline Brow Drama Crayon
This was super cheap at Coles one day (maybe like $4 half price?) so I decided to give it a go. I didn't mind it at first but now the sharp pointy end is buffed into a dome shape I can't really use this anymore. What I don't get about this is what do you do when it changes shape? I don't know what sharpener i'd use? So because it's just slightly annoying I wouldn't buy it again.

4. Maybelline Brow Satin Duo
This product features both a powder and pencil. At first I liked this but then I realized that the pencil gets SO dry. For awhile I couldn't work out why the pencil was barely filling in my brows and then one day the top layer fell off and what was under was the pigmented pencil. Then a few days later it got dry again. So I wouldn't buy this as I have had brow pencils which don't dry out on me.

5. Ardell 1000 Hour Brow Gel
At first I didn't mind this but after a full days work I noticed my brows looked crispy and had little bits of fluff stuck to them. I've tried it multiple times and it does this to me every time. None of my other brow gels have ever done this. It sets them in place really well but it isn't worth it for me as I don't like the look of crispy brows.

6. The Balm Mad Lash Mascara
I've been using the Lash Sensational by Maybelline for years so it takes a really great mascara for me to add it into my everyday stash. And this...just didn't cut the mustard. My lash line area is quite sensitive and I found this kinda hurt to apply. I only used this a few times but haven't liked enough to try again.

7. Loreal Base Magique Primer
Now this isn't a bad product but any means but it also isn't as good as other primers. You can get the silicone primer by "The Ordinary" which is an incredibly smoothing primer for around $10. If you want something smoothing and pore filling then definitely try "The Ordinary" one.

What are some products you wouldn't buy again? Are any of these ones you actually like?

  1. I didn't like the Maybelline brow satin duo either, the powder just didn't really work at all and the pencil had snapped inside when I bought it :( I haven't tried any of these other items! xx polishedcouture.com

  2. I agree, although I don't usually want a full coverage foundation, I do tend to reach for more high coverage concealers.
