The Eyeshadow Palette Collection

19:00:00

When I was rounding up my eyeshadow palette all I could think was "started from the bottom now we here...". Three years back I didn't own ANY palettes, except those tiny little ones my mum would get from a "gift with purchase" promo. Then I started watching YouTube and reading blogs..then I started getting into makeup more..then I started actually BUYING makeup..and thus my collection has grown a crazy amount in three years.

Today i'll share my palettes with you and let you know which ones are worth the buy or ones which can be skipped.
Makeup Academy Palettes in "Heaven & Earth", "Undress Me Too", and "Twelfth Night".
$14 each

If you're a longtime Chronicles of Holly reader (shout out to you guys!) you maybe would have seen me raving on about these palettes. When I first started my blog these featured heavily, I didn't actually own any other palettes but I just loved these. If i'm being completely honest: I don't use these at all anymore now I have better palettes in my collection. They still have great pigmentation and are high quality for a drugstore brand though.

Would I recommend? If you're on a budget and can only afford drugstore palettes then yes! Except the twelfth night one (the colourful one) as it isn't the greatest compared to the other two.
NYX "Wicked Dreams" Eyeshadow Palette
$15

As you can probably tell, this palette has not had a lot of loving. I find the shades are a bit tricky to work with. The coloured shades look stunning when applied with a bit of Fix+ though.

Would I recommend? Nah, skip it. The Makeup Academy ones are around the same price and are better quality. I still like this palette but I reckon there are other drugstore ones which have a bit better pigmentation.
The Balm "Meet Matt(e) Trimony" Palette
$44.95
Confession - I haven't actually gotten around to trying these eyeshadows yet! I only got this last week after winning it at the blogger event. I'm so excited to try it though, absolutely love the matte shades. I think this would be a great staple in many beauty lovers collections as it features many shades which could be used in the crease.

Will get back to you on whether I recommend it or not!
LIMITED EDITION Too Faced "Gingerbread Cookie" palette

My sister actually bought this for me at Christmas last year so sadly it's limited edition. I really like this though - the eyeshadows are great quality and it's a nice little compact size where I could easily bring this traveling. How gorg is Winter Dream?! I feel like a fairy princess whenever I wear this haha.
Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette
$83

When I got this 1 1/2 year ago I thought: I'VE FINALLY MADE IT AS A BEAUTY BLOGGER, I OWN A NAKED PALETTE !! I adore this palette as it features shades in which you can do a subtle eye or go all out smokey. The quality of these shadows are great, except I will say some shades I have to work with a bit. I think it could use another matte shade for the crease though as 'Tease' doesn't cut the mustard if it's a really smokey eye.

Would I recommend? Hmm...I think so? If it was to the regular person who kinda likes makeup I don't think I would, but if it's to someone who is into makeup then I definitely would. Does that make sense? I don't think it's an essential but it's great if you're a beauty lover.
Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette
$83

This is just a gorgeous palette. I absolutely love the pink tones, how there are options for a smokey eye as well, and that there are two crease shades. Being completely honest I feel like some shades could be better pigment-wise as "Buzz" and "Trick" need a whole lotta Fix+ to apply to the eyelid. Other than that the rest of the shades are great.

Would I recommend? Yes, probably! It's such a pretty palette featuring many gorgeous colours.
Too Faced "Chocolate Bar" Palette
$70

This is my ultimate holy grail palette. From the incredible shade range to the high quality of the shadows itself..it's practically perfect. This is what I reach for everyday and if I could only keep one palette then this would be it, easily.

Would I recommend? ABSOLUTELY. To anyone who is kinda into makeup to those that are obsessed with it - you NEED this in your life. Can't speak highly enough of this product.

So those are all my palettes and my thoughts on them!
What's your favourite one?

  1. Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette is one of my faves! I have almost hit pan in the shade Marzipan and when I do, I will probably have a mini breakdown. It's my favourite shade that I just messily put on my eyes for work every morning. My current obsession is the ABH Modern Renaissance Palette and I was so late to the band wagon with that one and I don't know why I waited so long to get it because it's as good as everyone says it is.
